How to Understand and Utilize the Three Servants of Success

“It is a psychological law that whatever we wish to accomplish, we must impress on the subjective or subconscious mind.”
-Orison Swett Marden

In my previous post, I shared two mind insights which I learned from a Mind Training Course (after my apologies of course). One of the comments on that post (from one of my loyal readers) suggested that I elaborate more on how we can realize the full power of our minds. So, the purpose of this post is to give you a sneak peak of how you can utilize your mind and the dimensions it exists in.
I said sneak peak because I’m actually working on a project (which you, my readers will see in a couple of weeks) and this post is part of it. By the way, I suggest you leave everything else and read this because this is a pretty long post (over 1,000 words).
The mind is just like the human being. The typical human is made up of three parts- the spirit, soul and the body. Well, so is the mind.
The few people that have discovered this fact and used it have learned how to completely take control of their world. We were created with the full awareness of this power and these servants of success and everything was under our control.
Then we lost it when that crazy issue rose up between Adam and Eve.
I won't go into that now but here's what I'm driving at- we can become the super humans we were created to be once we understand and effectively use the three servants of success.

What are these servants?
Remember I said earlier that just as the human is divided into three, so is the mind. These servants are simply the different forms in which the mind exists.
The mind exists in three different forms or dimensions as you may call it. In this post, we’ll be looking at two of them.

  1. The Conscious Mind
In other words, this is your “Thinking mind”. The kind of mind you have during rush hour and you're thinking of the best route to take, or when at the park, in the restaurant looking at the menu or when watching a movie. It's the mind that we all use on a daily basis. It's the mind that's linked to our five senses- seeing, feeling, tasting, hearing and smelling.
It's the mind that registers our actions and reactions to situations. It's the mind that gets influenced by what we see around us and the situations we find ourselves in.

“It's the starting point of our destruction or breakthrough.”
Read the above statement again.

Yep, you read it right. Everything that happens to us in life starts from the thoughts we feed the conscious mind.
The conscious mind is very important because it is the first checkpoint of our thoughts. It is the mind that comes with “add and edit” features. With this mind, you have the ability to add thoughts (voluntarily and involuntarily) and remove those that don't benefit you. It's the mind that you have some control over.

Let’s say you have a car and you always tell this car how useless it is even though it takes you to your destination and back home. And you do this every single day. One day, that car will prove to you how useless it can be by developing an irreparable fault. This is the same with you.
Your predominant thoughts are what your conscious mind holds on to. It is those thoughts that you continuously feed it with that it carries to the next level. What's this next level?

  1. The Subconscious Mind
This is your "thought storehouse" where all predominant thoughts from your conscious mind move to. Notice that I said "predominant thoughts" and not just any thought. It is the mind that you have little to no control over and unlike the conscious mind; it is not influenced by your senses. It is only influenced by what comes from the conscious mind.

To help you understand this better, let's see the following scenario:
Ben and John are two guys with adventure written all over them. Although they have many things in common, they have different personalities. Ben is really outgoing and often launches into the adventures himself. John on the other hand is more reserved and is often pushed into adventure because of his association with Ben. Whenever he is pushed, he has the time of his life.
During one winter season, they decide to go camping near a partially frozen river without a tent. After a few hours into the night, with sleep being far away, Ben challenges John to a swim across the river and back.
Now, here's the thing, John hates fish, regardless of the size. He hates fishing; he doesn't eat fish and squirms at the sight of fish. Ben, with his persuasive abilities convinces John to take the swim and off they launch into the river.
John is a pretty good swimmer and reaches the end of the river in record time. On his way back, what does he see- a medium sized fish racing him to the bank (lol!). His fear paralyses him and he sinks.
That was the last time John ever entered water. When he tries, his mind always tells him, "you'll see fish", even if it's a pool.

Oh! By the way, Ben pulled him out just before he drank up the whole river.
Now, what can we see from this story?
·         John’s conscious mind influenced his present action and translated his fear into paralysis when he saw the fish. He hates fish and his mind knows that.
·         Due to the incident and his continuous fear of fish, the feeling was carried onto his subconscious and influenced his future actions- he never entered water again.
What if I told you that because John now thinks that he'll always see fish, whenever he enters water (like the ocean or river), he will see fish. If you continuously say that you hate math, you're never going to get good at it. Being that it's a predominant thought in your mind (conscious mind), it moves to the sub-conscious mind and when you do nothing about changing this negative attitude towards math, the Universal Mind brings it to pass. So, what's this Universal Mind?

Whew! That was one long post. Next week, you’ll discover this third mind and how you can use all three minds to reshape your life and destiny. As you know, your destiny is in your hands and not someone else.
Do you think I missed out anything? How else do you think we can influence the thoughts in our subconscious mind? I’d really love to hear your insightful comments.

  2. Thanks for this post, Lanre.

I wonder how long it takes for our thoughts to become reality? I've been envisioning myself as a highly popular and successful author for some time now, but have yet to see it become an indisputable reality! :-)

In all seriousness, I do agree with you that having positive thoughts will add to our progress, and having negative thoughts will impede them. And I am positively ready for the fruits of my labour to rock my world.

Looking forward to your next post.

    1. Hi Doreen,
Yes, it does take time for your thoughts to become reality but it also depends on how predominant they are. I guess the good thing is that you are sure that you will be who you want to be. I'm not who I want to be yet, but hey, it'll come to pass one day.

It's my prayer that the fruit of your labour will rock your world.
      I appreciate your comment Doreen.

  3. Word! Lanre, it wasn't long AT ALL. This post was riveting all the way through. Thanks for such a powerful exposition - can't wait for next week's conclusion!

Now I'm going to be highly guarded about the thoughts that I entertain in my mind. Ultimately, our thoughts shape our lives and destiny. This is really deep!
